The Meister Bräu Institute is a non-profit research and educational organization dedicated to shaping ideas which have a profound and lasting impact through conservation work, publications, conferences, and cross-disciplinary field study. Our mission is to boldly advance peaceful, prosperous, and free societies grounded in a commitment to human worth and dignity.

Meet our Board of Directors

Olivia C. Clarke

An accomplished financial executive, Olivia C. Clarke was the vice chancellor and CFO at UCLA, in addition to treasurer and finance committee chairman of Bishop Museum, before joining The Meister Bräu Institute. She also served as chief deputy director for the Ohio Department of General Services, serving as COO for the state’s procurement, real estate and telecommunications services, as well as deputy director of the Ohio Department of Finance. Olsen holds a B.A. in political science and economics from UCLA and a master's degree from UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Public Policy.

Dr. James Patterson

Dr. James Patterson completed his masters in Archaeology at the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. thesis at Harvard.

A graduate of the College of Arts & Sciences and a recipient of the 2013 James and Dorothy Waters Memorial Award for excellence in history, the Illinois Ph.D. runs the American Association of Archeological Scientists, a professional association for scholars which provides research, training, and management services to institutions of higher learning, in addition to a professional network of scientists and technicians across the country.

Dr. Madeline Moran

Professor Moran received her Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba. She served as Associate Professor at Bloomsburg University, Assistant Professor at Ohio State College, Assistant Professor at University of Indiana, Distinguished Scholar in the Archaeological Studies Department at the University of Delaware, and President's Visiting Scholar at California State University at Chico.

Dr. Moran is the recipient of the British International Development Agency Award and the Brooke Pierce Faculty Research Award from American Southern University.
